Failed to connect to Road Angel device. Please check your settings.

If the serial number of your Road Angel starts 0000xxxx or 000xxxxx see below to resolve the problem.
If the serial number of your Road Angel starts 001xxxxx click here.

Ensure that your Road Angel is connected directly to a serial port on the computer. You cannot use a USB to serial converter, if you do not have a serial port on the computer you will need to purchase one of our stand-alone modems. Onlineshop section

The Road Angel is powered up using the mains adapter provided. The display should be backlit green and show three dashes.

You have selected the correct Com port. Most computers only have 1 Com port and the software should default to Com 1. If you have more than 1 Com port on the computer, for example Com 2, select the other port and try the update again. NB: If you are offered Com 3, this is the internal modem and cannot be used. If you are not offered an available port then it is more than likely another piece of software is configured to use the port you are connected to. Click here for more information.

The icon in the taskbar should be black . If the icon you have is blue you have the incorrect software. Click here to go directly to the downloads page to obtain the correct software.

If the serial number of your Road Angel starts 001xxxxx see below to resolve the problem. If you serial number starts 0000xxxx or 000xxxxx see above.

Ensure that your Road Angel is connected to the USB port on the back of the computer. Avoid using a USB hub or a port on the front of the computer.

The Road Angel display will not be backlit but it should have three dashes on the display.

The icon in the taskbar should be blue If the icon you have is black you have the incorrect software. Click here to go directly to the downloads page to obtain the correct software.
