Road Angel says farewell to motoring legend Quentin Willson

It’s been a sad weekend for car enthusiasts and the motoring press alike, with news that Quentin Willson has passed away.

It’s been a sad weekend for car enthusiasts and the motoring press alike, with news that Quentin Willson has passed away.

For anyone who grew up watching Top Gear or Fifth Gear before the age of supercar stunts and studio showdowns, Quentin was one of the original voices that made talking about cars feel intelligent, passionate and genuinely useful.

Long before clickbait and car influencers, he brought authority and affection to the screen — the sort of presenter who could review a family saloon with as much care as a Ferrari. His mix of charm, honesty and old-school integrity set the tone for a whole generation of motoring journalists.

In later years, Quentin championed consumer rights, fought for fair fuel pricing and became a tireless advocate for cleaner motoring. Whatever your view on the future of driving, there’s no denying his impact on how Britain talks — and thinks — about cars.

From everyone here at Road Angel, we simply want to say thank you, Quentin.

You made driving journalism better, driving itself fairer and the love of cars that bit more human.

Rest in peace, legend.
